Every October I try to read a horror novel to get in the mood for Halloween. Stephen King and Shirley Jackson have featured prominently – but I'm looking to branch out. What's your favorite spooky season read and why?
It’s not horror per se, but I really liked Caleb Carr’s The Alienist, and it’s follow up The Angel of Darkness. They are about gruesome murder and the early days of Criminology.
