I have a question for anyone who works or has worked at an indigo or chapters bookstore in Canada. Recently when I’ve been going up to the sales desk to buy my books the cashier will scan my books, look over at the screen, and then precede to try to upsell me a indigo membership which I decline every time. I was wondering if maybe something shows on my profile such as “this girl spends a lot of money here” that indicates they need to try to upsell to me? Anyway, I find this very annoying and makes me want to just shop online.

How would you have a profile if you aren’t a plum member?
Some stores have a policy that cashiers are required to ask every single customer to sign up for a points card or membership or something else of that nature. Most of the time the cashiers don’t like asking because they know how annoying it is but they are forced anyway.
