My grandma likes good prose and reads widely. Recently her health is a bit wobbly and she is reading some romance novellas (for the first time!) – they're easier for her to focus on than the meatier fiction she typically reads, but the prose is lacking in quality.
Do you have recommendations for a romance or romance-ish book with good prose? For example, something in the realm of Madame Bovary, Lady Chatterley's Lover…
It doesn't have to be straight out of the romance genre or strictly a classic, I am just naive to the genre myself so those are the only titles I can think of as examples. I'm desperate to find my grandma a book that she'll enjoy!
Edit: clarification – In the realm of classics I am seeking something a bit more rebellious/subversive/spicy than Austen or the Brontes
