I'm looking for a book with a romantic plot (subplot or main plot though I've never really into pure romance stories) where either what bonds the characters together is "went through something together that no one else understands" or "shares a hobby, interest, job, etc that other people think is weird". I want to read about two people falling in love with that feeling of "omg you get it!"

I don’t read a ton of romance, but I think Paladin’s Strength by T Kingfisher (the second book in the romantasy Saint of Steel books, which I think can each stand independently though they would somewhat spoil earlier books) could really fit this with its romance. The main characters are both very tall, large people keeping secrets and who have secret semi-magical conditions that they have to keep under control. They often bond and give sympathetic looks around beds and doorways and benches being too small, and have find a deeper understanding of each other through their respective dangerous, private magical conditions.
The main plot is a dangerous journey/adventure story which goes to some dark places. The romance gets a lot of focus (I would classify it as romantasy) and has some spice.
What You Wish For by Katherine Center, it’s a school librarian and a principal with complicated pasts.
