i just saw a post for favourite books but i didn’t see much in the comments for the fantasy genre. therefore, i thought i’d start another thread for us magical folk.

i’d love to hear what everyone’s favourites are! :3

    my favourite:
Mistborn- i found everything about the series incredible!

    1. If you enjoyed Mistborn… I think you will love the Wheel of Time! “The Eye of The World” by Robert Jordan is the opening chapter. And Branden Sanderson Wraps up the series using Robert’s outline and notes. With editorial assistance from Robert’s wife after Mr Jordan passed away.

    2. the cradle series by will wight. i listened to the entire series in about a month i couldn’t get enough of it. can’t recommend it more highly.

    3. Kate Elliott’s “Crown of Stars” is just. . . something else. It’s the most in-depth, detailed world-building I’ve ever encountered. Elliott manages to design a magic system based on medieval cosmologies (meaning Ptolemaic), while designing a world with a heliocentric solar system AND KEEPING TRACK OF THE MOVEMENTS OF THE STARS AND PLANETS.

If there’s a building, Elliott has considered what resources were available to construct it. If the characters eat a meal, she’s considered what agricultural technology they had access to. She has centuries worth of religious schisms and heresies, it’s wild.

    4. My all time favorite is The Lord of the Rings. I also like A Song of Ice and Fire, Conan, and parts of The Wheel of Time.

    5. Discworld. It’s not really close. Of the 41 books, at least 30 are in the top percentile of the greatest fantasy books ever written.
