I read pretty girls last year, it was my first crime novel, and was a good page turner, but the lengths of the conspiracy were a little far fetched.
just went back and read tryptyk, the first of the Will Trent trilogy. it was pretty much the same bag, all though I enjoyed the story a bit more as it seemed a little more believable.
the subject matter was however almost identical. I want to read the second will Trent novel as i liked the character and got to know him over the book, but if it’s more of the same subject matter, I think I’ll skip any more of her writings.
tldr; does she write any crime novels where the soul focus is not on rape? while murder is still grim, it’s a bit easier to get through a book about murder than the former.
thanks

it explains a lot and gave me a better view on why she writes about this topic. respect to karin.

Yeah, her name is Slaughter. Probably felt too on the nose. It’s why Emily Dickinson & Jimmy Pervert only wrote about murder. I call Charles Dickens Jimmy Pervert btw. The name is Pabbam. Any other questions? I can not help with tons of stuff!
Can’t be sure you’ll like it, but this article seems very pointed.
Even if it starts with a quote hand-picked to set people off. Hahah

Ug, yes. I love her books but sometimes I have to stop reading because it’s way too much.
Yupp, the Will Trent series is predominantly about rape and violence against women. While I like the series, it’s way too dark & depressing more often than not.
I had to stop reading her books a long time ago because the crimes were so gruesome. It was too much for me.
I stopped reading them because a bunch that read kept jumping back in time to when the rape/murder occurred. I can read a horrible instance once but it too difficult to continue to back to the time and add a little more detail of horrible each chapter.
I couldn’t finish pretty girls because it was too brutal.
Same deal with The Good Daughter. Very detailed descriptions of extreme violence against women and girls, sexual violence, etc. There are a lot of flashbacks in that book too, so we get to read about the same brutally violent event twice from slightly different perspectives. I didn’t enjoy the rest of the book either, so I don’t think I’ll read anything else by her.
I read pretty girls and honestly thought it was the most horrific piece of media I had ever consumed. But I couldn’t put it down so I guess there’s that.
I am a huge fan of hers and have read all her books. Gruesome, yes! Page turner can’t put down, also yes! Maybe because my life is quiet and calm that I like my books to grab me and 🤯😱
*The Good Daughter* has rape in it too, heads up.
Is “Slaughter” her actual surname? That’s just metal.
