So YA fantasy? Have you read the Kiesha’ra series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes? They’re about multiple races of animal shapeshifters (ie, a race of bird/humans and a race of snake/humans and so on.) I read these MANY years ago now, but remember the world building being creative and fun.
