    Hi,
I'm in Japan for work and I'm taking advantage of some spare time to visit Kyoto and Tokyo.
It's my second time in the country.

Every time I come to Tokyo I can't help but look at these huge skyscrapers in Shinjuku like the Sumitomo.

These were built in the 70s when Japan was in full economic boom. Those were the years of the big conglomerates that sold everything from insurance to cement production, the kind of companies that we Europeans don't have, almost.
Then around the 90s everything stopped. Both on the stock exchange and in the economy, they were unable to maintain growth and lived off what they obtained. The country has seen a contraction in wages and lately a devaluation of the yen. In fact, an article from a few days ago, the Japanese don't travel like before Covid. As we were used to considering the Japanese as inveterate travelers.

In short, I would like to read one or more books that talk about the evolution of the Japanese economy and society in the last 30/40 years.

    Thank you!!
