Recently finished this book. I noticed an inconsistency between the synopsis on the back and one of the plot points.
The synopsis says: “A police examination of his computer shows strange searches. He says they weren’t made by him.”
Except when you reach that part in the book when the police are questioning him about the searches, he tells them it was just a stupid idea for a book. He doesn’t deny them.
This has been bothering me more than I’d like to admit… can anyone explain?
Is a synopsis sometimes exaggerated (especially for thriller/mystery novels like Gone Girl?)

Either that or whoever wrote the synopsis didn’t bother to actually read the book itself.
Could be anything like an edit after the fact that wasn’t caught, a straight up error, lying, or frankly just terrible writing like the rest of the book.
