Hi guys. I’m looking for any texts (UK or US, but mostly British) set from 1870-1945 that include any of the following…
Female poisoners/threat of the botanical feminine
Queer/female bodies in nature and the home
Depictions of witchcraft
The angel/monster woman
The wildness of nature translated into perceptions of women, and the threat of women being linked to their connection to nature’s unpredictability.
I’ve already written down Frenchman’s Creek and The Well of Loneliness for queer bodies in nature vs the home, and My Cousin Rachel for the threat of the botanical woman.
I’m hoping that any suggestions will have a common thread of the uncanny weaving through, or the feeling of something unusual/amiss. Any suggestions would be massively appreciated… thank you!
