I read this book probably about 12 years ago and it really stuck with me but I could never find anything about it.
I just read it again a week ago and it still remains a beautiful novel. Actually novel doesn’t do it justice — it’s a story.
The first time i picked it up the first few pages seemed to be full of so much purple prose that I almost put it down. I told myself to try it out until the end of the chapter and I’m so glad that I did.
Andrew Davidson’s writing style reminded me a little of Chuck Palahniuk’s right down to the unnamed narrator.
Anyway, I just wanted to gush about what a great book it was and was wondering if other people felt the same way.

Same scenario as you! I read this years ago and remember loving it. Recently I picked it up cheap for a reread, but I was hesitating on whether it would be worth it and if I was remembering correctly. You’ve pushed me into definitely picking it up again so thanks!
Why would “novel” not do it justice and how is a “story” higher praise than novel?
Feels like you just said, “square doesn’t do it justice, it’s a *rectangle*”
