I use GR ti keep track of what I’m reading and find new books. Once in a while I’ll write a garbage review and move on. I love reading reviews! Especially when I see a trash book get 5 stars. I want to know why they gave it 5 stars when I thought it was trash.
That being said, I don’t argue on GR with the rating. That a personal opinion. If I don’t like it, I scroll and move on. Lately I’ve noticed people arguing with the book reviewers on GR, more than ever. Like serious arguing and going off about the rating, the “missed point”, intelligence and critical thinking skills…
Why?
Why does a negative review bother people so much that they end up writing an argumentative essay in the comments? What are they hoping to accomplish? Do YOU argue with anyone on GR?
An opinion is a personal sort of thing. I don’t like Dark Matter and think it’s poor writing, but I’m not going to argue with those 5 star ratings because there is no point! You could be reading another cool book instead.
