I'm interested in suggestions that can be a special flavor of sci-fi, fantasy, or magical realism. A mixture of Umberto Eco's vast knowledge, Marakumi's strange characters and LeGuin's world building that can take you down the rabbit hole like Alice in Wonderland for adults. Esotericism and parallel worlds are a plus. Would something by Gene Wolfe fall into that framework?

You may enjoy The Secrets of Dr. Taverner. Probably won’t find a hard copy; but it is available on Librivox

    2. Arcadia by Iain Pears

The Secret Service by Wendy Walker
