In need of a book as to reminisce over the loss of a dog.

I plan on picking up “Cujo” by Stephen King so an instance with the dog being the villain is totally cool! Want books where a dog/relationship to the dog is either a large part of the story or otherwise the dog in a major focus nonetheless. Basically, I want to read while being able to envision my deceased childhood dog as a character given I’m enveloped in a paroxysm of sorrow. I love science! Anything on the psychological aspect of one’s relationship with a dog would also appeal to me.
