My references are Kokoro by Natsume Soseki, Lie With Me by Phillippe Besson, The Lover by Marguerite Duras and currently reading Notes on Grief by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Essentially, stories about separation, grief, mourning, joy and its loss, or longing.
Poeticism is good, as long as it doesn't inhibit understanding/reading experience, but not a requirement. I'd be very open to reading works that are written by authors in Africa, Asia or other places.
