Two examples that come to mind, though not entirely the same as what I'm looking for, are "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer and "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. I'd say the former fits more into what I'm looking for because the main charact was set up to live a "perfect" life (as defined by his parents and societal expectations) but he chose to give it all up for a special kind of freedom. "Eat, Pray, Love" is different because she was not happy with the life she had been living, was in a shitty relationship, etc.
Tbh I need some help deciding the best path in my own life… turning to books to hopefully find some insight.
Edit: doesn't have to be about the main character chasing passions/dreams from when they were young specifically (I don't think either my two examples fit that either), but just some deep, burning desire to live a different lifestyle that they are currently.
