I've been feeling a little lost lately and have been looking for a book that is comforting and feels the same as watching all of those 80s/90s coming of age movies but that are a little bit more mature. Hoping to be able to relate to some of the protagonists my age and I don't have any preference for genre, just looking for books that give off this vibe!

The Heralds of Valdemar series. Most MCs are teen to early adult.
Circle of Friends by Maeve Binchy.
Tatami Galaxy
One of my favorite books is “this side of paradise” by Fitzgerald. lol it’s the opposite of what you want (campy, John Hughes type). But I think you’d relate to it. I read it in college as a lost kid, and I related so much with the main character.
Chabon’s Mysteries of Pittsburgh & Wonder Boys
I am Charlotte Simmonds – Tom Wolfe
The Secret History, by Donna Tartt…I truly think this should be required reading for all incoming Bennington College students. (Fictional college, based on Bennington.)
