I'm looking for a good series or just a book about a non magic warrior in a magical world. I find that most of the fantasy books people talk about have a magical protagonist. I've read all the Conan books as well as a the Witcher books. I've even read several warlord of Mars books and some of the Gor books. What else is out there?

    1. Non-magical is pretty hard to come by. Usually pulp fiction protags are like “pull something out of my arse and win” and that *something* is often magic.

Take a look at Jonathan Moeller’s books (one of the 10,000 he writes every year). There’s probably a series in there that suits, and if not, ask him and he’d probably write one.

Though he has some minor inherent magical capability, Drizzt Do’Urden sort of suits your request. There’s about 30 of those books.

    2. It’s young adult but the Protector of the Small has a non-magical warrior protagonist in a magical world. She’s training to become a knight, and some of the side characters are magical but she’s not at all.

**Dark is the Sun** by Philip Jose Farmer

      >Fifteen billion years from now, Earth is a dying planet, its skies darkened by the ashes of burned-out galaxies and its molten core long cooled. The sunless planet is nearing the day of final gravitational collapse in the surrounding galaxy. Mutations and evolution have led to a great disparity of life-forms, while civilization has resorted to the primitive. Young Deyv of the Turtle Tribe knew nothing of his world’s history or its fate. He lived only to track down the wretched Yawtl who had stolen his precious Soul Egg. Joined by other victims of the same thief–the feisty Vana and the plant-man Sloosh–he sets off across a nightmare landscape of monster-haunted jungle and wetland. Their search leads them ultimately to the jeweled wasteland of the Shemibob, an ageless being from another star who knows Earth’s end is near and holds the only key to escape.

This reads like Fantasy despite being set in the incomprehensibly distant future and being peppered with advanced technology. The protagonists are stone age warriors and a plant centaur.

**The Gunslinger** (The Dark Tower Book 1) by Stephen King

“The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.” And so begins the haunted, genre-bending mythic fantasy epic of The Dark Tower. The story follows the last gunslinger, Roland of Gilead in his pursuit of the sorcerous Man in Black across a blasted, demon haunted magical wasteland that stretches beyond the world and across time.

    5. Might be worth checking out Fritz Lieber, his Fafhrd and The Gray Mouser series.

They’re all titled “Swords of ….”

The **Kane** series of books by Karl Wagner are great and Conan-like.

**Legend** by David Gemmell, is a dude with an ax against the world.

**Nifft the Lean** by Micheal Shea is my personal favorite. Wonderful**,** but hard to get a hold of (out of print and no ebook).

Mentioned in another comment here, but **Fafhrd and Gray Mouser** by Fritz Lieber is great.
