The book follows Grace, a woman murdering her estranged father and his family. She is writing a confession while incarcerated for a murder she did not commit. What Mackie gets spot on is the voice of the main character. She manages to make grace compelling while still keeping her fairly unsympathetic. And her observances as she follows her rich family, offing them one by one are darkly comic, and yet hold a kernel of the truth.
Hilarious and dark in equal measure, the book is highly recommended. It's also a very pacy read, and great to get you out of a reading slump.

Sounds really interesting! I read David Thorne when I’m in a slump so this is right up my alley.
I read her non-fiction book about running and I was wondering how her writing would transfer to fiction so this is really good to hear! Definitely on my TBR list
Oooh, this sounds interesting! Thank you for the recommendation!
What type of the puppy did she adopt! I am thinking of getting this book for a friend and a certain type of dog would convince me to get it!
Half way through reading this and grace is insufferable.
I hated this book. I really wanted to like it, but I thought it was absolutely crap.
