For years, I bought books at random. Whatever that caught my eye whenever I was browsing a bookstore with money to spend. But in the past year or so, I’ve given myself a set list of books I’m allowed to buy. While this proved to be extremely useful, it’s becoming a little…restrictive. If I think about buying something not on the list, my inner voice insists I shouldn’t.

Is this a good habit to maintain? Or does it really matter?

    1. Collecting books is a related but ultimately separate hobby from reading books. Do you have money and space to buy books you never read? Do you enjoy having them around despite never reading them? Only you can tell us if it is a good or bad impact on your life.

    2. Honestly, as the years pass, I become pickier and pickier with books. I have rather specific and maybe obscure tastes, that cannot be satiated on local bookstores over here, so I end up ordering the books I want online. Of course, If I walk in a local bookshop and end up finding something I believe I’ll enjoy, I’ll probably take it.

Once in a while I go knowing what I want. Most of the time though I like to go and just try to find something totally random that catches my eye/interest, plus it’s kinda fun and I enjoy trying to find something new
