Books about ethical hacking

I work for a tech company (in the marketing department), but I’ve met a lot of programmers, IT people and even hackers (called testers). We get along well for the most part, but sometimes I feel like they’re using technical terms that I don’t understand as a sort of inside joke or to even sound smarter. Being honest, I have a degree in social sciences and I love it, but it’s not very respected there. I’m petty so I wanted to learn about hacking and cyber security on my own and quietly, just so that when the opportunity arises I can shock them. But I’m a dum-dum so the simpler the book the better.
