I want something that captures the ups and downs of life. Something sad and happy at the same time, just a book that captures what it's like to be alive with both the good and bad. I don't really want a success story, where the main character ends up as a billionaire, just hopeful ending would be nice.
Thank you!

I think [The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint by Brady Udall](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13707661) might be perfect for you. It starts out with 7-year-old Edgar getting his head run over by a mail truck. From there, things just happen to Edgar – good and bad. You’ll definitely laugh and cry and love the ending.
Hmm…midnight library would fit this description!
If u want to read something like an antihero, read Notes from the underground – Dostoyevski.
This is the bread and butter of a lot of classic novels. A few examples include:
Little Women
Middlemarch
War and Peace
David Copperfield
Edit: I think Little Women in particular might be what you’re looking for. All 4 girls have a dreams of what they want when they grow up (see the chapter “Castles in the Air”) and none of them have their dreams come true. It’s one of the biggest themes that somehow gets missed in every single movie adaptation.
