Hi, additionaly I read some Cormac McCarthy books and looking for more interesting books on life in Mississippi, Tennessee and other Southern states of USA
I like dark themes be it true crime or as mentioned in previous thread anything outlaw related, days of slavery, gangs, I enjoyed a lot Kevin Smith movie Red State, so also kind of religion fanatism and cult stories, just suggest Yours favourite.
Some nice editions are welcomed, its a gift partialy, so if there are some pricier books, it would been also welcomed. I do have a lot of Mark Twain books for example, but none of them in a big value, as some of his books I'v seen for a very high prices. Related to this, I'd have a question
Why Tom Sawyer books are way cheaper than Huck Finn? Just out of curiosity, as a European reader, I do not have a Valíd explanation, I know, why certain European books are so pricey, but this interests me, when it comes to Mark Twain.
He was one of my favourite authors in childhood and Tom Sowyer my favourite book, never read Huck Finn.
Thanks for help!

Do you consider Kentucky the South?
Given that you like dark themes I recommend you check out David Joy and S.A. Cosby.
Faulkner
Secret Life of Bees, To Kill a Mockingbird, Where the Crawdads Sing, The Color Purple, The Help
I think most of the above books would appeal to a female audience than anything.
Oddly enough I too enjoy books that take place in the South, but have never been, and have zero desire to visit. 🤷🏻♀️
Jesmyn Ward writes beautifully about the black experience in modern Mississippi. Often quite harrowing and confronting but that can be wonderful too sometimes.
Also, The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead is great. It’s a bit of a strange take on historical fiction set in the slave south. Kind of fantasy? Hard to describe but very good and highly regarded by critics.
Eli Cranor books are some great southern crime. They are ficiton.
