    Hello all, first time poster!

I've been wanting to go back to the 2003 Battlestar Galactica series lately. Specifically, season 1. It was one of the few pieces of media that really captured a specific energy that I found so compelling- this frantic and desperate struggle of a post-apocalyptic society to fight and work together in the face of annihilation, and the things that they're willing to (and not willing to) give up as a "polite society" to try and improve their chances of survival. I'd say the only bit of media that I've experienced that has come close was "Alas, Babylon."

So yeah, long prelude aside, what I'm looking for is a kind of survival/post-apocalypse story about people keeping some kind of society going and surviving against the odds, with some political/ethical stuff tied in. It can be sci-fi, but doesn't have to be. Preferably no grimdark "society is awful, all you can count on is the individual" post-apocalypse stories, kinda burnt out on those.
