I’ve read “Neverwhere” and “Coraline” by Neil Gaiman, “Mort” by Terry Pratchett, and “The Silver Eyes,” “The Twisted Ones”, and “The Fourth Door,” by Scott Cawthorn. They were all unique stories, but at times, the stories were too fast, confusing, and random and I got lost. Luckily, these books have comic book versions of them which cleared up a lot of plot points and helped the story make a lot more sense for me. I’m just wondering what I would have done if all I had was the book itself. Part of me may have taken on the challenge and try to reread or relisten to find a deeper story or meaning in there. The stories are compelling enough not to make me want to give up easily.
The next book that falls into this category would be “The Wizard of Earthsea” by Ursule K. Le Guin . I see why it’s claimed and why it’s a classic. But at several points, I was like what is going on? Apparently, there’ll be a comic book adaptation in 2025. That would really help.
