I just finished reading the entire two part series which I literally could not put down and somehow a book about mice and cats had me feeling so many human emotions.

It also sucks seeing the parallels to what’s happening today and how people haven’t really changed.

There’s also the part where his father ends up bringing up similar racist tropes to a black man as the nazis did about Jews and it made me think how hopeless it is that if someone who went through all that could still not see the issue with racism than what chance do we have.

    1. I purchased and read Maus when it was first printed. I found the graphic novels to be depressing at times, but I am glad Speigelman didn’t pull any punches.

Yes, the idea that racism isn’t invented or controlled by a single ethnic group and pervades across all demographics is… disheartening? It’s also part of the human experience and our social evolution.

We must be aware of it and try to control our own bias. To remember that each individual is a person, a human being and not a cookie cutter of some imagined stereotype.

We will never eliminate racism, the very word is an exercise in stupidity as we are all the same race, all we can do is try to limit its influence.

I know. People seem to still hate Jews.

Like there was a huge massacre of a Jews and systemic rape of Jews on oct. 7.

Hamas executed Jewis hostages a few weeks ago in cold blood.

But people want to come out and cheer on Hamas doing all this murder and rape and pretend to be righteous. Just like Germans did in the Maus.
