I recently read Rachel Simmons' "Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls," which explained some of the covert methods of bullying – shunning, the silent treatment, communal scapegoating – that kids use on each other. It was fascinating to learn about new dimensions of human social behavior. I'm wondering if you can recommend other books of this nature, even if they're not about bullying. Matthew Desmond's "Evicted" is another that I read recently and enjoyed. Any book that falls under the Dewey Decimal number 302.5, basically. I enjoy learning about people and groups. I find it lends a certain credibility to one's fiction.
