Hey everyone,
I’m heading on a road trip through New England in 2 weeks (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, etc.) and would love some book recommendations that really fit the vibe of the region. I’m into both fiction and non-fiction, and I’m hoping for books that capture the scenery, history, or that classic eerie, autumn New England atmosphere.
I’m especially into historical fiction, character or plot driven epics, thrillers & horror. But I’m really looking for anything in which the setting feels like a character of its own. Bonus points if it has a fall-season, small-town vibe.
Thanks!

Annie Proulx, Heart songs
E. Strout, Olive Kitteridge
I would pick a John Irving and a Stephen King, and Witches of Eastwick by John Updike and The Perfect Storm by Junger which is non-fiction but still horror.
