This jaw dropping exposé on the world of overseas generic drug manufacturing highlights the FDAs struggles to maintain compliance of safety standards. The lengths drug companies will go to in order to secure a passing inspection is shocking.

The book also does an outstanding job of highlighting political pressures within the FDA, which sometimes allow drugs to be imported into the United States, even while knowingly not following FDA guidelines.

I am a habitual non-fiction reader, and this book has proven to be one of my favorites. The tense moments as you follow along the story of a whistleblower attempting to expose the truth of the generic drug industry results in a page turning experience. Overall, I highly recommend this book if you wish to learn more about the pill bottles in your medicine cabinet. I know it has led me down a rabbit hole of researching the companies that manufacture the generic drugs I take on a daily basis.

What are some of your favorite non-fiction books that changed your perception on an otherwise mundane part of your life? I would love to hear about it!
