I really love films where the main character is an idiot or terrible at their job, and stumbles into a problem, then through a series of accidents/wacky hijinks they end up saving the day anyway.
I’d love some book suggestions based on this concept. I’ve tried reading Mrs. Pollifax and Bernie Rhodenbarr, but their too good at their jobs, and not nearly bumbling enough.
Movie examples: Pink Panther, Johnny English, Spy, Austin Powers

It’s only a kids book, but Spy School’s similar and fun.
Graham Greene, *Our Man in Havana*.
I wonder if Paul Tremblay’s *”*Mark Genevich” series could fit this? I haven’t read them, but they’ve been on my list for a while. I’m just not sure Genevich is actually bumbling…but it could be worth looking into? Idiot plot detective sounds excellent, I’m excited to see the answers to this one.
