I’m looking for a book that will give me the same feeling that the room by Jonas Karlsson did. Just a really creepy and uncomfortable vibe that isn’t thrown in your face, the essence that something is really off.
The best other example I can think of is a movie called vivarium, that movie did the build from subtly creepy to terrifying incredibly well.
Other books that give me the same vibe (but don’t execute as well as the room did) are:
– Ghost Wall (Sarah moss)
– The Employees (Olga Ravn)
– The Hole (hiroko oyamada)
I think I like (other than the employees which is scifi) that these stories are all about ordinary people on the surface, but you come to understand that something sinister is taking place.
If you have any recommendations from my incredibly vague descriptions please please throw them in the comments!
