I explain, there is a character from a book, he can kill and torture an innocent person on purpose, he can destroy an entire innocent race or group of people, behave like an asshole, an abuser, infantile, stupid, say that he is not like everyone else. And at the same time, the author will defend him, say how funny and good he is, that it's the others' fault and they should tell him: "I'm sorry that I yelled at you because you killed that guy on purpose who didn't do anything to us", will make sure that he survives from any a mortal wound, and if he dies, then everyone will cry at his death. To clarify, it is the author himself who protects this character, and not the character himself.
