Recently I started reading Seishi Yokomizo – in English, about 6 translated already by Pushkin Vertigo and hopefully more to come. All his books are murder mysteries but of course have a lot of peculiarities because of the culture and settings of the specific time periods that the premise is built on. I’ve come to love the works and then I started reading so many other books by Japanese authors and have found the translations to be great.
In my experience a lot of Russian, German and Japanese books have been quite well translated unlike works from the Middle East mostly Persian.
What’s your opinion about this?
Suggest good reads.

The more the better. Unless we all learn a heap of languages, we’d miss out on books written by other language speakers/writers.
I have 2 books like that, translated into English, if they hadn’t been I would have missed out, sadly her other work has not – yet – been translated and I await them still.
