I'm looking for fun, quick books on science that won't leave me feeling like I'm being talked down to but also won't make me feel like I'm being forced to read for uni again. Based my fields of study in higher education, I have a solid background in general biology, physics, chemistry, and psychology, as well as fairly advanced knowledge of medicine, human biology, behavioral neuroscience, and physical therapy. I've also taken college courses in geology and astronomy, though I didn't get too deep into them.

I'm doing a reading challenge that includes reading books on science – most of my science reading in the past decade+ has been textbooks and articles. I've been having trouble finding books that I find intellectually engaging but that also don't feel like I'm working when I read them – not that I mind a challenge, I'm just not looking for dry, since I'm doing the reading challenge for personal enjoyment and stimulation.

I'm particularly interesting in reading about medicine and illnesses, as well as mechanics. I'd love to dip my toes deeper into astronomy, too, and physics heavy astronomy is totally fine. But really anything science that isn't too basic but is fun would be appreciated. Any thoughts? Sorry if this is overly specific.
