Camilla Bruce's novel "The Witch in the Well" has been on my to be read list for months, and I finally started it tonight. The very beginning of the book was interesting enough, but the social media focused main character is annoying me like nobody's business. It's a pretty short novel, so I figured I could get through it in a day or two, but the pseudo spiritual ramblings of the characters are bugging me so bad, I keep having to put the book down.
Perhaps I just feel this way because I finished another book today – "The Witch of Willow Hall" – that spoke of witchcraft in a more interesting manner, and I just wasn't ready to go from one novel to another so soon.
The book IS written just fine, and Camilla Bruce has written several other books that I've enjoyed quite a bit, but THIS one. . . I'll keep reading, since it is short, to see if the plot grows more interesting, but if it doesn't, then I'll find this novel unfortunately disappointing.
To those who have read this book, what did you think of it? Maybe I'm just not in the right mood for it at the moment.
