    1. MANSFIELD PARK by Jane Austen

      It’s her least popular book, mostly because the main character is a humorless prig rather than the sparkling, witty one whom everyone falls in love with. But if you’re willing to see things from her point of view, you’ll find a book that is about the problem that obsessed Jane Austen: how to be a good person when the world seems to reward you for being bad.

      Above all, it’s a book about *gratitude*, about being thankful for what you have and what you’ve been given.

      I think about it every week.
