This is kinda a vent, but here we go.
I read Annihilation and I loved it! The whole concept of Area X, the unreliable narrator, the mystery, the whole shebang! Needless to say, I was immediately hooked and bought Authority soon after I finished.
Unfortunately, it's very unlike Annihilation. We get very little of Area X and almost no questions from the previous book are answered. The bits with the biologist are great, and that reveals some things and brings up more questions I want answers to.
But for the most part, the book is mommy issues and beaurocracy. I don't know how to spell that word, I just guessed.
Anyway, I'm trying to finish it because I want to read Acceptance, and I want to know if we ever figure out what's really going on, but it's just such a slog. I know I don’t need to read a book I'm not enjoying, but I'm almost done anyway and my curiosity must be sated!
Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels like this book is a letdown compared to Annihilation TwT
