I've been gifted with enough money to buy 3 or 4 books for my birthday (yay). I have no idea what book would be worth buying though, so I need y'alls help.

Sci-fi, Mythical fantasy or classics are what I'm looking for. It should have minimal to no romance. (It's fine if it's a subplot, or something like the mc is already in a relationship. The point is that romance shouldn't be given much attention.) Female empowering characters or a healthy balance in the existence of male and female characters should be there.

Would also be better if it's an easy read. I don't want to have to search up words every two lines but some difficult words are fine.

Just for reference, I've read Jane Eyre, All the Light We Cannot See, Carmilla, The Song of Achilles, and currently reading The Martian Recs need not be similar to these books. I've just given them to give an idea of the difficulty level of the books I read. (Which is not very difficult lol)

Recommend your favourites if you can please, and thanks <3

Apologies for any errors in my writing.

i know you say you have birthday money, but i highly highly highly recommend using your library! it’s free! there are book apps libby and hoopla (if you are in the US) that work with your library card(s) and you can check out ebooks/audiobooks/movies/music, etc, all for free and immediately!

*then* if you read a book through there that you end up loving, use your birthday money to buy a copy of it!

since you liked **A Song of Achillles**, i think you’ll really enjoy [**Galatea** by Madeline Miller](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18162954)

SUPER SHORT 20ish page story which is in my all-time fave reads. and yes, it’s the same madeline miller 😉
