I would ask in a psychology subreddit, but I can't post a text-based post, lol. Anyways I'm currently reading a bunch of philosophy books and doing heaps of research with the goal of writing my own books someday.
I know it's a very complex question, why do others hurt each other? but are there any books that actually explain the psychology and mechanisms behind it?
I should specify, that I'm looking for non-fiction books/papers, academic stuff, I guess some philosophy book suggestions on the topic could be useful too, but I'm really trying to understand why people inflict violence and cruelty upon one another on a deeper level.
I understand that in order to understand why, I might have to learn about behavior and other branches of psychology and then come back to the original question, but I have plenty of time and am genuinely curious.
also…before you ask why I don't just go to school and learn about the subject…well I'm kind of too poor and incurring debt of any sort would be financial suicide for me. So, my only option is to read books and self-educate in my own time.
Thanks.
