Anyone have a suggestion on a thriller x history?

My husband is a huge history buff and also enjoys mysteries/thrillers, and I LOVE reading thrillers (Lisa Jewell is my favorite author and I have read almost all of hers, also enjoy Freida McFadden and Margot Hunt).

We’re looking to start reading a book aloud at night to each other that will keep both of us entertained.
    TIA!

    1. PeregrinePickle on

The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. (Caveat: it was written back when a novel was composed in installments and released monthly. So it feels more like the book equivalent of watching the Complete Series of a 12 season TV show. Tone shifts, retcons, sometimes a storyline that goes nowhere.)

    2. Roman Blood by Steven Saylor

This is a murder mystery detective novel set in Ancient Rome. It’s also the first book of a series so if you like it there are more to read!

      The Eight by Katherine Neville

Angels and Demons and/or The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown might also work

      The Sherlock Holmes series

Historical non-fiction (very readable, though) by Erik Larson (starting with {{The Devil In The White City by Erik Larson}})
