I like many books of different genres. Some of the highlights are: Howl's Moving Castle, The Thief series, Louise Penny's CI Armand Gamache series, Ken Follett's Kingsbridge series and the WW1/WW2 series, Shogun, Mistborn trilogy, Garth Nix's Abhorsen series, and Olivia Atwater's Half a Soul series.
It would be nice if it was not emotionally taxing. I like cozy things that feel like a warm hug right now. I like romance, but I hate when it's the central plot and everything else is bonus material. For example, Ken Follett can sometimes be a little heavy handed on the romance, but I enjoy the world he creates and the history he explores.
Thank you for any and all suggestions you provide!

From a fellow hot-weather hater, how about Moominland Midwinter by Tove Jansson. Lots of snow, beautifully written and definitely not taxing!
Spring snow by Yukio Mishima
Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata
Ice by Anna Kavan
All quite varied in themes and characters, but share a common quirk of being able to drag me into the setting and feel like i’m in the middle of a snowstorm any time I read them!
