I came across a copy of Charles Darwin's Origin of Species at a bookshop and it occured to me that I've never actually read it. I started to flick through the pages and, whilst I can appreciate it for it's historic significance, the information is far from shocking in 2024.
But it got me thinking – what are today's version of this book? What new, groundbreaking and controversial books have been released in say the past 5 years that are worth reading? Can you suggest any?
Or perhaps books like these are only identified in retrospect? And during their time are only known to smaller specialized circles? Or perhaps, more depressingly, big important theories/discoveries are broadcast on different mediums these days?
