Years ago (maybe a decade?) I remember reading a book on my kindle about a book where each chapter (or section) was a different person’s account of meeting a random stranger who ended up being the second coming of Jesus. Depending on the account, the person who ended up being Jesus was a ‘junkie’, a coworker, a quiet neighbor, etc. OR, Jesus was the same person but the premise remained that he was not who we expected Jesus would be and each chapter or part was a different character recounting their run ins with this person.
It was fiction, but not really Christian fiction? (I thought the premise was interesting, as someone raised Catholic and now atheist)
The cover was black/dark and minimal in design.
I think it was a long title?
The main setting was NYC.
I did try to Google it and search Reddit. I looked through each comment of the most commented post and didn’t see it (I looked up so so many that sparked my memory) and so far nothing.
I don’t necessarily want to read it again, but I’ve been plagued with the memory of it and I need to know if I made this up or this strange book exists out there somewhere.
