She just tear my The Stand by Stephen King book (which was a great book)…I have to read some place safe so that my mother can't see me…She keeps all my books in her closet and gives only 1 book which i have to read , and that also I can't read properly…If I read more than half and hour a day…She will scold me very bad…And if any day I fight with my mother for some reason she throws my all books and says she will burn it down !…What's your opinion on this…

The paragraph I wrote 👆👆 was a month ago draft and now my mother don't let me read anymore not a single minute because I made a deal with my mother that if I will go to gym I will not read, yes she also think gym is bad thing and don't let me go but as I made a deal that I will never read books until I pass high school…But it's not fair I am interested in reading!!!!!

    1. what the fuck ? what does your mother have against reading ? depending on age i kind of understand a parent caring what you read but this sounds like shes has a problem with reading in general.

Look up “NPD Parent and/or BPD parent”.

Inform yourself. Good luck. I suffer my mother too. But now realise she has major issue.

    3. When I was a young adult, my parents limited me to 1 hour of reading a day during the week because otherwise I would have read non-stop and avoided all chores, homework, exercise, socializing, etc. Is there a chance she’s trying to make sure you are getting all of those done? What happens if you talk to her and make a deal where you will do all your homework, spend 1 hour outside/exercising, and do all of your chores, and then you can have the rest of the evening to read?

I was also the kid who read books that were absolutely not age-appropriate. While I didn’t see anything wrong with that at your age, there’s no way I’d want my 8-12 year old niblings reading the books that I did at that age.
