During a conversation with my colleague about my prior work with patients with psychotic symptoms, it became very clear that my colleague does not have a very accurate perspective on what psychosis (and psychiatric disorders in general) are like. I'd say that his 'education' comes mostly from Hollywood caricatures. He is motivated to have more understanding and honestly, it bugs me tremendously when people think that schizophrenia means you have violent tendencies.

Therefore, I was hoping to find a book that is easy to read for someone with little knowledge towards psychiatric disorders that can give some insight into the positive and negative symptoms of psychosis. Preferably not 'too extreme', so it stays relatable for someone who has little experience or empathy on this topic.

I have considered these books already:
    – 'The center cannot hold' by Elyn R Saks (will reread before I advise it to him)
    – 'I never promised you a rose garden' by Hannah Green (love this book, but I want a less extreme example)

    Am really curious 🙂 Thanks!
