I finnished this book last night and I'm still trying to process it. It's such a well written, heartbreaking story. I was moved by the story from the beginning but those last 20 or so pages…. I cried my eyes out.

There's something I keep coming back to and I'd like to discuss it with you: I don't know how to feel about Jules handing the gun to Romanov knowing that he's gonna kill himself. Like on one hand, I totally see that maybe he did it out of compassion: the writer was slowly losing his mind and he made it clear that he didn't want to live like that. But I can't help but wonder if Jules did it solely so he could finally be with Alva without any interference, and how would Alva feel about this if she were to find out.

It's not like Jules killed him directly, but he could have stopped him.

I don't know, I just want to hear your thoughts—
not only about this but the novel as a whole. What did you think of the story?

(Not a native speaker so apologies for any mistakes).
