TL;DR I have never been attracted to reading books, however they say its never too late to start and Id love to aqcuire that great habit. Do you have any tips that get me started?

My dad passed away exactly one year ago. He was one of the most book -and knowledge in general- enthusiast I will ever know. He always had 6-7 books in rotation (one in the bathroom, one in the coffee table, one besides his bed, one at his parents in-laws, you get the picture).

Once or twice a week we would find an Amazon package on our doorstep, I mean, he really devoured books. When he passed away me and my mom are left with literally a few thousand books. Technical books (he was a University Professor of Electric Engineering), political, cooking, etc. Instead of googling something, he would search a book on the subject and order it.

Anyways, while I do enjoy the act of reading, I mostly consume the day to day type of literature. News on the internet, blogs, etc. I have never read any classic novels (well maybe a few in my lifetime) or any other type of actual books.
This got me thinking a while ago. Most of the content I read (and I do spend a great deal of time reading) is really disposable. Weather is a tech blog or news, that knowledge wont really improve me in the long term. Do any of you have tips to maybe get me started on reading?

My dad was the best example of an intelligent self improving person I have ever had and I want to kind of maybe rub some of that on me.

    Thanks in advance.
