I have a few days to read either one of these books for a short vacation. For anyone who’s read either, what are your thoughts on them? Would you recommend them?
For the record I have read Kafka on the Shore and did enjoy it, I did find it a bit lacking in deeper meaning. Although I may have missed the point completely lol it seemed a bit all over the place. Not to say I didn’t enjoy it, I did enjoy the tone and atmosphere but I do like when books give me something to think about or reflect on afterwards and didn’t really get that from Kafka On the Shore
I started reading Crime and Punishment as I have been wanting to for a long time but it’s not pulling me in right away. I’m a few chapters in for reference. I understand it covers more deep existential topics but does the pace pick up at all after the first few chapters?
Would love to hear your personal opinions on either/both. Thanks in advance!

I loved Crime and Punishment, but it never really picked up the pace. 1984 was definitely an easier read.
