Okay so I used to be a big reader from ages 12-16 (22F) and I’m so serious when I say I haven’t really read since then. Embarrassing but with my phone, my attention span is just not great anymore. I have like 8hrs a day on my phone so uhhh I need to get off of it! I wanna try and start reading again & I even got myself a library card. The issue is, I don’t exactly know what i want.
Currently reading Dare (anxiety self help book) & that is just focused on helping symptoms of anxiety. But I don’t want to constantly read self help books, I feel like that would make anxiety worse!
I’m not into horror or sci-fi almost at all. I like learning about musicians (i just don’t know who has biographies out there) & just anything about bands (whether it can be fiction or non fiction). I like romance but not the Icebreaker type lol (I tried reading it & one page in, i closed it so fast). I also enjoy poetry to an extent. For reference, I really liked Connor Franta’s books (oddly specific i know, i was obsessed), John Green (I don’t know if id like anything like that now). If it helps any, my 2 fav shows are The Office and Catfish (bluey too butttt) & my favorite movie is 10 Things I Hate About You. I guess that could give you an idea on humor & such.
Not too long ago, I checked out an Emily The Strange book & I kinda liked that but didn’t understand much cause I don’t know much about Emily The Strange. Also, I saw there’s these two books out Please Unsubscribe, Thanks (no library has it) & The Anxious Generation (someone has it out at every library lol) & I was kinda interested in those but I can’t get them anyways. I don’t really want anything super sad either. I’m trying to help my anxiety here a little, not make it worse.
I know it might be hard but I’m desperate! I just don’t know what to look for! Any suggestions are appreciated!
