book suggestions for me!

hi all! I (18 F) was really into reading as a kid and have recently rediscovered my passion for it. My birthday is coming up and i wanted to make a list of a few books i’d be interested in, since they can be really expensive new, but i’ve realized im not really up to date with things that have been coming out and what might be a good read.

Here’s some things i’ve found i do and don’t like:

• I’m not super into romance novels. Don’t get me wrong I love a good love story, but I prefer when the main plot of the story is something else, and the love just happens to be there if that makes sense? i’m not sure exactly how to articulate it but for example I didn’t really enjoy Icebreaker, but I really loved They Both Die at the End

-I was a huge fan of both Harry Potter and Percy Jackson novels as a child, and really vivid world building like that interests me

-I recently read Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin and LOVED it, so anything similar to that would be good

• I also recently read Looking for Alaska by John Green and very much so enjoyed it

-I’m looking for something similar to the previous books I mentioned, but possibly with slightly elevated vocabulary. it’s probably just me but I feel a bit of pressure to read stuff that’s a little more advanced than I understand so I can expand my vocabulary while reading if that makes sense, pretty much any recommendation is welcome though!
